The University of Michigan was set to defeat The Ohio State Buckeyes in the first round of The Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis, In. Ohio State, the number one seed, came out flat and went on a 25-6 run to lead by nine at halftime. Michigan played like a team of desperation and fought their way back to the lead, hitting a jump shot with 2.2 seconds on the clock. Game Over? Not quite, sports fans! Evan Turner hit a 38 foot three pointer to leave The Wolverines in complete misery and giving The Buckeyes a 69-68 win. I love March Madnesss.
The Big East Tournament has been amazing. The top three seeds were knocked off in the first day of play. I mean only March Madness, right? It gives teams opportunities to save their season(s), it shows how terrible teams that some consider great (like Duke) really are and it ends hopes and dreams of the other four hundred billion teams that don’t make the top 65. I mean you can go to the NIT Tournament, but who gives a sh*t.
Look, I love March. You can say what you want, but these gentleman play for something. The dives on the floor, the sweat and tears and the triumphs are the reason we (as fans and viewers) watch. The Underdog (St. Bonaventure) is the reason we continue to believe in.. well, something. The small chance to see your favorite team win the National Championship keeps us motivated. It’s just basketball, but for three weeks…. IT’S LIFE!
